Totem Park is a residence for first and second year as well as new students. It was primarily constructed between 1964 and 1968. It is made up of eight houses, which with the exception of Shuswap, are co-ed, with alternating men's and women's floors. Shuswap house is currently the only house at Totem with co-ed floors (that is, men and women are allowed to live on the same floor). Each house has six floors.

The Coquihala Common Block is the hub for many residence activities in Totem Park. Coquihala includes the dining room, fitness room, study areas, music room, ball room and after-hours convenience store.
