Slanting rains festoon scarfs of mist

From UBC Wiki

Every morning, before I leave for school, I check the weather to ensure I'm prepared for any surprises. When I looked out the window this morning all I could see were sun and rays, so of course I left my umbrella at home before leaving for the bus. I was more than happy to have one less item to carry on my back. However, throughout the day I noticed dark clouds rolling in and I silently prayed to the rain gods to stay away. Unfortunately, they failed to hear my prayers and by the time my last class was finished, it was pouring outside. I put on my hood and marched to the bus stop, only to realize my bus would be delayed by 25 minutes. I could either stand in the rain for 25 minutes and wait for my bus, or make the 20 minute walk in the rain to my home. I decided on the latter, mainly because I was cold and speed-walking was a warmer activity than standing still. Upon arriving home, soaked and frozen to my core, I was eager to hop into a boiling hot shower. Sadly, my misfortunes did not end there. After about 10 seconds into my shower, the hot water switched to ice cold. I cursed my landlords for using up all the hot water. Still cold, I slipped on my thickest socks and warmest hoodie and crawled into bed, hoping to dream of hot weather and sandy beaches.
