Manual for Graduate Teaching Assistants

Pharmacy 451 (P451) is the third in a series of four therapeutics courses taken by students in the B.Sc.(Pharm) program. It is taken by 3rd year pharmacy students (i.e., 1 year before their last year of their program), is worth 2 credits, runs from September to December each year, and is delivered to a class of ~224 students.

The content is ENDOCRINE, CARDIOVASCULAR and to a lesser degree, renal and hematologic pharmacotherapeutics.

Each topic area is “streamed” in sequence from pathophysology (P471), to pharmacology (P441), to therapeutics (P451) and patient self-care/non-prescription therapeutics (P461).

Course Coordinator: Ms. Janice L. Moshenko, (604) 822-8091, janicem@mail.ubc.ca, Senior Instructor, UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The teaching format is case-oriented didactic lecturing by practicing clinical pharmacists with specific expertise in the topic area(s) taught.
