Summary

Seventeen-year-old Richie Perry, just out of his Harlem high school, enlists in the Army in the summer of 1967. This is the story of the horrors he sees and experiences while on active duty in Vietnam for one year. Graphically violent this novel depicts the reality of war without glorifying or romanticizing it.
