The Killam Teaching Assistant Prize

The Killam Teaching Assistant prize will be awarded on recommendation of the Killam Prize committee. Teaching assistants can be nominated by their course instructor, peers, student or they can self-nominate. The nomination should be submitted to Melanie Train melanie.train@ubc.ca. Based on previous experience, we expect the deadline for submission of nominations will be early March, 2016.

The Killam Prize committee will review all supporting documentation. Supporting documents must include:

Summary or recent teaching responsibilities including number of students, type of teaching undertaken, hours per week in the classroom, average time spent constructively in consultation with students. If applicable include activities from the preceding year. A statement of the candidate’s values and assumptions about teaching and learning (less than 1 page). Any formal feedback from students, colleagues and/ or supervisors A demonstration of graduate student’s contributions to teaching over time.
