You can export your entire site to a hosted web-service such as WordPress.com or to export specific site content to a different UBC Blogs WordPress site. In addition, you can export specific pages, categories and tags if selected.

This should really go without saying, but backing up your WordPress website on a regular basis is extremely important. Although a lot of web hosts (UBC does daily backups) may offer free backups, it is still your responsibility to keep recent backups yourself, preferably hosted on a local hard drive.

Exporting your WordPress Site

  1. From the Dashboard view click on Tools in the sidebar
  2. From the drop-down menu that appears click on Export
  3. Set the filters to designate which dates, authors or content you wish to export and click Export
  4. This will download an XML file to your computer. Save this file and when you wish to recreate this content upload it to another WordPress site or installation.
