Documentation:BB Student testing

From UBC Wiki

Please use this page to record any issues you encounter or questions raised during testing of the BB Student App.

  • Most links in the "Derek test" site force user to jump into the desktop (read non-mobile friendly) site
  • There is no simple content area in the "Derek test" site with mobile friendly content inside (i.e. .pdf doc, item of text, etc.)
  • Announcements works fine and looks great in mobile
  • Absence of a BasicLTI link to WordPress blog (i.e. UBC Blogs or UBC Blogs iFrame LTI link)
  • Assessment/Assignment submissions takes a bit of time to submit (maybe 5-15 seconds)
  • Filename when uploading Assignment via cloud is truncated - problem when people have versioning in filename
  • Attachments in Assignment Feedback and Discussions are not displayed. A plaintext file-name sometimes appears.
  • Push notifications are flakey. I received content notifications as instructor, but student role did not.
  • "New Grade" notifications are a fantastic feature students will love, but we will encourage them to log in to desktop environment to see full feedback.
  • APOSTROPHES ARE NOT DISPLAYED! (screenshot). I can't replicate on my iPhone but two testers could.
  • Discussion threading is unclear/invisible. Can't really see who's replying to who.
  • Refreshing is inconsistent. Students expect to be able to swipe down to refresh, but in actuality they had to go to another course and back in many cases.
  • All institutional announcements seem to appear upon first login.
  • Lots of formatting is stripped. Embeds, mashups, images... not good as there's no indication of an incomplete experience.
  • Generally it is most concerning that assignments and assessments can have formatting issues. Students may genuinely have an incorrect view of graded course activities. Opens up a very real possibility for marks to be challenged.
  • Overall, push notifications are the killer feature. We may simply recommend students install the app, allow notifications, then never actively use it.
  • Are Course Messages not a supported feature? I swear I saw this in a promo video, can someone from Learning Apps please check into the roadmap and share?
