dark and consequences seem to be what most people are "afraid of". Possible ideas of being "afraid of the dark" could be attributed to the rise and popularity of horror films (which were popular during the 1930s and 1980s), or possible widespread use of the lightbulb in the late 1800s, where Edison has been known to advertise his products in such a way to sway public opinion
